Reviving a Forgotten Find
While we unfortunately don’t have many ‘before’ photos of our latest project, we stumbled upon this piece of furniture discarded by a dumpster, and we couldn’t resist giving it a new life. After dedicating a significant amount of time to sanding, and then sanding some more, we finally achieved a smooth surface on the top that was ready for a fresh coat of finish.
We chose to enhance the wood with a gel-wax stain, opting for Ebony Minwax Gel Stain. This choice was intentional as it harmonized beautifully with the trim on the legs, effectively reducing the orange undertones that were prevalent in the original color.
Before we began, here is what we utilized:
- Various grits of sandpaper
- Minwax Gel Stain
- High-quality polyurethane for the final coat
