Transformation of a Yard Sale Find

This charming piece was discovered at a local yard sale for the incredible price of just $10. While it required some leg repairs and the top was starting to separate, a little bit of tender loving care (TLC) made all the difference. After dedicating some time to repairs, along with sanding and applying a liming wax treatment, it has been restored to its former glory!

Using liming wax was an excellent choice to subtly alter the color tone of the piece. Initially, it had an orange-yellow hue that we wanted to diminish. With the liming process, we achieved a beautifully muted grayish tone that truly enhances its character.

Materials Used

• Wood Repairs: Essential for fixing the structural issues.
• Sanding and Liming Wax: We used Bri Wax to achieve the desired finish.
• Sandpaper: Necessary for the initial smoothing of surfaces.
• Terry Cloth: Great for applying the liming wax evenly.
• Stripping Agent: Used to remove the old finish before refinishing.
