12 DIY Natural Remedies for Winter Skin Care

I hope you are all staying warm and safe during this chilly season! Here in Kansas, the winter weather has been quite unpredictable. Just earlier this week, we enjoyed temperatures in the 60s, and now we’re bracing for freezing rain, with a major snowstorm forecasted for the weekend. While I absolutely love the variety of weather that comes with living in the Midwest, it can wreak havoc on my skin. The dry air and constant temperature fluctuations leave my skin feeling parched, aggravate my eczema, dry out my nails, and make my hair brittle. Because of this, I’m always on the lookout for natural remedies to help moisturize, soothe, and nourish my skin, hair, and nails. I’m excited to share some of my favorite recipes with you below. Enjoy!

1. Super Rich & Creamy Hand Lotion

Has the cold winter weather left your hands dry and chapped? Try this incredibly rich and creamy hand lotion! It will have your hands feeling normal in no time. Click here for easy step-by-step instructions on how to create my favorite deep-moisturizing hand cream, along with recipes for six different essential oil combinations. While all six blends are wonderful, the last essential oil combination is the absolute best for locking in moisture and making your hands feel super soft and hydrated.

2. Face Serum Customized by Skin Type

Every one of us needs a moisturizer, but we shouldn’t all use the same one. I’ve seen numerous DIY face serum recipes that offer the exact same formulation for everyone, regardless of whether they have normal, dry, combination, sensitive, mature, acne-prone, or oily skin. That simply doesn’t make sense. Different skin types have unique needs. A face serum for sensitive skin needs to be gentle and soothing, while a serum for mature skin should hydrate, even out pigmentation, plump fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance skin elasticity. This is why I adore this simple two-ingredient DIY Face Serum recipe—it provides fantastic guidance on which carrier oils and essential oils are best suited for each skin type, allowing you to create a personalized serum that meets your specific needs. 3. Dry Shampoo to Add Volume, Lift Roots, and Keep Hair Healthy

A few months ago, my hair stylist caught me in a bad habit—I was washing my hair every single day! As I got older, this daily washing routine was drying out my hair. I needed a solution to achieve that clean, just-washed feeling without the damage. After experimenting with several homemade dry shampoo recipes, I finally discovered one that I absolutely LOVE! It’s an all-natural way to add volume to your hair, instantly lift oily roots, and it smells divine! Plus, it’s easy to customize for any hair color, whether you’re a blonde, brunette, or redhead. 4. Healing Salve for Chapped Skin, Eczema, Cracked Heels, and More

If I had to choose only one DIY skincare product, this would be it. It’s incredibly versatile and works wonders for a variety of skin issues: eczema, chapped skin, cracked heels, minor cuts, bug bites, bee stings, rashes, burns, and more. Click here for the healing salve recipe.

5. Whipped Body Butter That’s Soft & Silky Without Being Overly Greasy

This is the BEST whipped body butter recipe I’ve ever encountered! It’s soft, silky, and deeply moisturizing—all without leaving a greasy residue. Additionally, there are numerous recipes for essential oil blends to customize the whipped body butter to your liking. Click here for the whipped body butter recipe.

7. Natural Foaming Face Wash for Your Skin Type

This is my favorite face wash recipe. It’s a straightforward yet effective foaming face wash that can be customized for your specific skin type. My skin can also vary seasonally, being sensitive in the summer and dry in the winter. Recently, I’ve been using a mature/aging foaming face wash daily, which is incredibly moisturizing and nourishing! Click here to access the essential oil face wash recipes.

8. Lavender, Oatmeal & Milk Bath to Help Soothe & Calm Irritated Skin
