Goat’s Milk Melt & Pour Soap

Goat’s milk is rich in a plethora of vitamins such as vitamin A, which is vital for skin health, and B vitamins including riboflavin, niacin, B6, and B12. Additionally, it contains alpha-hydroxy acids like lactic acid that gently exfoliate dead skin cells, revealing healthier, rejuvenated skin. Goat’s milk soap is suitable for all skin types—it’s gentle enough for sensitive skin, deeply moisturizing for dry skin, and its proteins combat bacteria, making it excellent for acne-prone and oily skin.

Bentonite Clay

Bentonite clay is a natural clay known for its fine, soft texture. This clay gives the facial soap a luxurious, silky lather. It also acts as a gentle exfoliant, helping to unclog pores and absorb excess oil, which can significantly reduce acne flare-ups.

Tea Tree Essential Oil

Renowned for its anti-inflammatory properties, tea tree oil calms the skin and minimizes redness. It regulates excess oil production while restoring the natural oil balance of your skin. The antibacterial qualities of tea tree oil help disinfect the skin and combat acne effectively. Research suggests that tea tree oil can be as effective as benzoyl peroxide in treating acne but with fewer side effects.

Lavender Essential Oil (or Geranium Essential Oil)

Lavender essential oil is celebrated for its calming properties, leaving your skin feeling refreshed and soothed. It effectively reduces redness and uneven patches on the skin. Additionally, lavender oil helps to restore moisture balance, preventing your skin from becoming overly dry or excessively oily.

Step 1: Cut the Soap Base

Begin by cutting 1 pound of goat’s milk melt & pour soap into small cubes, approximately 1/2 inch in size.

Step 2: Melt the Soap

Option 1: Use a microwave—melt in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until fully liquid.
Option 2: Use a double boiler method—place a heat-safe glass bowl or measuring cup filled with soap into a pot with 1-2 inches of water. Heat over medium until the soap is completely melted, stirring occasionally.

Step 3: Add Essential Oils

Remove the melted soap from heat and let it cool for a few seconds before adding essential oils. Incorporate 15 drops of tea tree essential oil and 10 drops of lavender essential oil (or substitute with geranium essential oil). Stir well to ensure the oils are evenly mixed throughout the soap.

Step 4: Mix in Bentonite Clay

Add 3 tablespoons of bentonite clay to the soap and stir thoroughly until fully incorporated. Tip: Add the clay slowly and close to the bowl to prevent it from flying everywhere.

Step 5: Pour into Molds

Pour the soap mixture into silicone molds. Tip: Work quickly as the soap will thicken quickly after adding the bentonite clay. To avoid air bubbles on the surface, you can mist the top with rubbing alcohol. You can use various silicone molds, such as cupcake molds or other shapes.

Step 6: Allow to Cure

Let the soap dry completely in the molds. After about 24 hours, the soaps should be fully hardened and ready for removal.
