-
Superfine Sugar
This sugar is finer than regular granulated sugar, making it ideal for gently exfoliating your lips. It effectively removes dead skin cells, leaving your lips soft and smooth.
-
Mini Candy Canes
Not only do candy canes offer a delightful aroma and taste, but when ground into a fine powder, they also serve as an excellent exfoliant for your lips. Plus, mini candy canes can add a charming touch when tied to the outside of your lip scrub jar, making it a perfect festive gift.
-
Apricot Kernel Oil
This oil closely resembles the natural oils produced by our skin, allowing for deep absorption and hydration. Rich in oleic acids, linoleic acids, alpha-linoleic acids, palmitic acid, and vitamins A and E, apricot kernel oil is beneficial for healing chapped lips and promoting collagen production for a youthful appearance.
-
Peppermint Essential Oil
Peppermint not only enhances blood circulation for a natural rosy tint but also soothes and heals cracked lips. It has a natural plumping effect that can make your lips appear fuller and more vibrant.

Steps to Create Your Homemade Lip Scrub
Step 1: Combine Ingredients
Add 2 tablespoons of superfine sugar to a small bowl.
Tip: While you can use regular granulated sugar, superfine sugar is recommended for its smaller granules, which provide better exfoliation and smoothing for your lips.
Step 2: Prepare Candy Cane Powder
Place 2-3 mini candy canes in a Ziploc baggie and crush them with a rolling pin until they form a fine powder. Add 1.5 teaspoons of this candy cane powder to the bowl with sugar.
Step 3: Mix Oils
In another small bowl, measure out 2 teaspoons of apricot kernel oil and add 5 drops of peppermint essential oil. Mix thoroughly.
Step 4: Combine Mixtures
Pour the oil mixture into the bowl containing the candy cane and sugar blend.
Tip: If apricot kernel oil is unavailable, you can substitute it with another light edible oil, such as avocado or sweet almond oil. Just ensure it is safe for consumption and doesn’t overpower the scrub’s flavor.
Step 5: Mix Thoroughly
Ensure all ingredients are well combined.
Step 6: Jar Your Scrub
Scoop the mixture into a small jar. Yield: This recipe makes approximately 3 tablespoons of lip scrub.
Tip: Use jars that are suitable for diluted essential oils, either glass or PET plastic. Find 1 oz PET plastic jars here. Find 1 oz glass jars here.
Step 7: Label Your Creation
Add a label to your jar (click here for a free printable label).
Tip: You can print the label on full-sheet label paper or use regular printer paper and secure it with packing tape. This method is cost-effective and keeps your labels intact for longer.
Step 8: Optional Gift Presentation
For a festive touch, consider tying a mini candy cane and a sprig of greenery around the jar with some baker’s twine.
